Alex Ross is acclaimed as one of the leading illustrators in comic art today. His realistic, human depictions of classic comic book characters for Marvel has cemented his position in the pantheon of comic book and contemporary pop culture illustrators. This edition is the first in a dramatic new series of up-close portraits of the most iconic Marvel heroes as portrayed by Alex Ross. Designed to complement in size and pricing Alex Ross’ bestselling Mythology series of limited edition prints, this series begins with Alex’s vibrant and expressionistic new Iron Man portrait. Since his introduction in 1963, Iron Man, created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Jack Kirby and Don Heck, has consistently been one of the most popular and important of all Marvel heroes. His appearances as a founding member of the Avengers and the current film series have added to his consistent fan base. This artwork was created in a limited edition as a gicleé print with archival inks on premium canvas and paper. Each piece of the edition has been numbered and is signed by Alex Ross.

Sometimes described as "digital lithographs", giclees are created using extremely sophisticated computer equipment to create a reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original.
Most giclees start with an original painting or illustration in oil, watercolour, or charcoal. The original work is scanned and colour corrected under the supervision of the artist before being printed with a extremely high resolution giclee printer. From the French term for "spray of ink", giclee printers lay down millions of microscopic ink droplets with such precision that the images, colours, and subtle nuances of the original piece are reproduced with breathtaking accuracy and beauty.
Giclees are created on high quality acid-free rag paper or on canvas, and are generally done in limited editions of no more than 750 pieces. They are often signed by the artist.
Limited edition giclees are a beautiful addition to any home and any art collection.
