Vintage Model Sheet 05

Item #GALLcolor05

Product Description

This is an original color model sheet used in making the 1961 Warner Bros. Looney Tunes theatrical cartoon "Daffy's Inn Trouble" directed by Robert McKimson and written by David Detiege. The short was released on September 23, 196 and stars Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. A color model is a rare first generation copy from the original master. In the early days of cartoon production the photocopying and reproduction techniques of today did not exist. This first generation copy was most likely created using a spirit copier, the most common means of reproduction in the 40's and 50's. First generation color model sheets were distributed to all principal animators working on early cartoon productions. It was their guide from the Master Animator. A truly rare find.

Original Production Drawings

Original production drawings are one-of-a-kind pieces of animation art. Prior to the creation of cels, each character pose and action must be drawn in pencil. These drawings are the artistic backbone of the film or television show, and are much in demand by collectors.

While they lack the vivid colour of cels, drawings are very desirable for two main reasons. Many collectors prefer drawings because it is at this stage that the animators have really exercised their talents and brought the characters to life. Another appealing aspect of drawings is that they generally cost significantly less than a comparable production cel.

Original production drawings are a wonderful addition to any animation collection, and a great way to enjoy the artistry behind your favourite characters. See What To Look For In A Good Cel Or Drawing.
